Beth West

Beth has been working as a specialist in the antique jewellery industry for over ten years.

She has worked for several auction houses and museums, developing her knowledge of gemstones and jewellery over the decade. She is a member of the Federation of European Education in Gemmology and, as a Fellow and Diamond Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Bruton
Medal winner), has taught diploma level gemmology at the Association’s headquarters in London, continuing to support them as an ODL tutor.

Over the last two years, she has also worked with the De Beers company, Element Six, on a project tracing the history of synthetic diamonds, as well as supporting the De Beers Institute of Diamonds as a diamond technical writer, developing course
content.

Her areas of focus are synthetic diamond detection and geographic origin determination of coloured gemstones.
