AIM OF THIS COURSE

The practical application of newly acquired gemmological knowledge can sometimes seem daunting.

This course, therefore, explores a more practical approach to the identification of gemstones based on colour and transparency. 

The twelve online lessons cover in detail each of the principal colour groupings and how to identify the gemstones that commonly occur in each using standard gemmological testing.  

COURSE STRUCTURE

The course consists of 12 lessons and 1 test –  together with 2 hours of online tutoring with one of our instructors.

  2. Colourless and white gemstones
  3. Red gemstones
  4. Pink gemstones
  5. Orange gemstones
  6. Yellow gemstones
  7. Green gemstones
  8. Blue gemstones
  9. Violet and purple gemstones
  10. Brown gemstones
  11. Black and grey gemstones
  12. Phenomenal and unusual gemstones

WHO IS IT FOR

This course is specifically designed for students who have completed the Basic and Advanced gemmology courses.

Tailored to support the gemmologist’s gem testing practice, it is intended to develop the student’s understanding prior to pursuing the practical courses. 

WHAT YOU EARN

Upon the successful completion of this course you will receive a certificate of completion and course credits towards the Career Gemmologist Diploma and Coloured Gemstone Professional Diploma Programs.

  • Prerequisites needed: Basic Gemmology and Advanced Gemmology
  • This course is available for long distance learning. You can register at any time and study at your own pace. 
  • There are no time restrictions.
  • Price is £200 (Digital); the courses are also available in print at an additional cost. 
  • No basic gem testing equipment is included in the cost of this course.
  • Please note prices are given before tax. For UK residents VAT (20%) must be added.
